MLB Division Series Matchups Officially Set as October Field Narrows to Eight
The Wild Card round is complete, and Major League Baseball’s final eight teams are officially set.
The 2026 Division Series begins Saturday, with four best-of-five matchups determining who moves one step closer to the World Series. The field features division rivals, recent champions and several clubs carrying momentum out of the Wild Card round. (MLB.com)
ALDS: Cleveland Guardians vs. Chicago White Sox
The AL Central rivalry moves to October after Cleveland narrowly captured the division over Chicago. The White Sox actually won the regular-season series 7-6, with the teams separated by just one run across their 13 meetings. Chicago enters after sweeping Houston in the Wild Card Series, while Cleveland earned a first-round bye as the AL’s No. 2 seed. (MLB.com)
ALDS: Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees
Two AL East rivals will meet with a trip to the ALCS on the line. Tampa Bay earned the American League’s No. 1 seed, while New York made quick work of Boston with a two-game Wild Card sweep. The Yankees’ pitching was dominant in that series, but they now face a Rays club that finished 98-64 and earned home-field advantage throughout the AL playoffs. (MLB.com)
NLDS: Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Diego Padres
Baseball’s top regular-season team meets one of the hottest clubs entering October. Milwaukee finished with a franchise-record 103 victories, but San Diego won four of six against the Brewers during the regular season. The Padres also swept Milwaukee during a three-game August series and now enter the NLDS fresh off a Wild Card sweep of the Cubs. (MLB.com)
NLDS: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves
The defending back-to-back World Series champion Dodgers begin their title defense against Atlanta. Los Angeles earned the NL’s No. 2 seed and a first-round bye, while the Braves had to survive a three-game Wild Card battle against Philadelphia to advance. Now, two familiar National League powers meet again with a spot in the NLCS at stake. (SI)
All four series begin Saturday, Oct. 3, as the postseason field officially shrinks to eight and the road to the 2026 World Series enters its next stage. (MLB.com)
