De’Von Achane’s 2026 Season Cut Short by Torn ACL
The Miami Dolphins have been dealt a major blow just three weeks into the season.
Star running back De’Von Achane will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a torn ACL during Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Achane injured his left knee early in the game and was able to leave the field under his own power, but further testing confirmed the season-ending injury. (Reuters)
The injury brings an abrupt end to a season that carried high expectations for the 24-year-old. Achane was coming off the best year of his young career in 2025, rushing for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging an NFL-best 5.7 yards per carry. He added 488 receiving yards and earned the first Pro Bowl selection of his career. (NBC Sports)
Miami also made its commitment to Achane clear during the offseason, signing him to a four-year, $64 million contract extension. Now, the focus shifts toward his recovery and a return in 2027. (NFL)
For the Dolphins, replacing Achane will be no small task. Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright are now positioned to take on larger roles in Miami’s backfield as the team moves forward without one of the most explosive players in football. (ESPN)
Achane’s season may have ended far earlier than expected, but at just 24 years old, there is still plenty of football ahead for one of the NFL’s most dynamic running backs.
